Intelligence officer who died in Kyiv provided evidence of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine
The military intelligence official who died in Kyiv as a result of a terrorist act was Colonel Maxim Shapoval, who was commander of the core intelligence and provided evidence of Russia’s involvement in military aggression against Ukraine, writes LB.ua citing a source in law enforcement bodies of Ukraine.
“It’s thanks to him that Ukraine could substantiate its position at the Hague regarding Russia’s involvement in military aggression, and before that he provided all such documented facts through the diplomatic channels and through the channels for exchanging intelligence information with allies’ intelligence organizations,” the source stated.
According to the source, Maxim Shapoval was directly involved not only in the planning, but also in the execution of reconnaissance raids in the heart of the occupied territories.
“The uniqueness of the reconnaissance operations lay in the fact that it used various means to document the movements of the Russian occupation forces, the presence of modern electromagnetic warfare models and weapons of destruction. And this was in a form that could serve as reliable evidence of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, especially [documenting] the use of the electronic warfare stations and the latest systems of destruction which are only produced in Russia,” he said.
In addition, separate reconnaissance operations involved timely warnings regarding the deployment of Russian artillery, including long-range artillery, which significantly reduced losses among Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.
“Maxim was eliminated blatantly by the enemies, with an intimidation element as well as an information operation element to discredit Ukraine’s most devoted sons,” the source told LB.ua.
As reported, on the evening of June 27 in Kyiv, a car containing a military intelligence officer exploded. The event qualified as an act of terror.
