Media: Ukraine’s negotiations with the IMF on a new tranche have taken longer than expected
Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have not yet concluded negotiations about granting Kyiv the fourth tranche under the Extended Fund Facility program (EFF) in the amount of $1 billion. This was reported by the Ukrainian News Agency.
According to the interlocutors of the agency, the parties still cannot agree on the time-frame of implementing the land and pension reforms in Ukraine.
"According to the optimistic scenario, if the pension and land reforms issues are agreed this week, then Ukraine can expect the allocation of funds no earlier than the second half of February, taking into account the technical procedure of decision-making on lending by the Executive Board of the IMF," the material says.
On September 14, 2016, the International Monetary Fund decided to provide Ukraine with the third tranche in the amount of $1 billion. Initially, it was assumed that the third tranche would be $1.7 billion and the country was supposed to receive it in 2015. Due to the non-fulfillment of all the conditions by Ukraine, the fund has reduced the amount of the tranche to $1 billion.
