Medvedev: Russia lacks money for Kerch Strait Bridge project

The Russian Government "hardly" has the money for the construction of the Kerch Strait Bridge in the Crimea, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev acknowledged that Russia lacks the money for the implementation of large-scale Crimean projects, in particular for the construction the bridge over the Kerch Strait and the Tavrida highway, he said during a meeting of the Presidium of the State Council of the Russian Federation on the development of the transport system in southern Russia on Thursday, September 15.

According to Medvedev, the creation of the Kerch Strait Bridge is "the largest construction project in the country. It will cost a lot of money, and we hardly have enough, taking into account our difficult situation," he added. Russian President Vladimir Putin also participated at the meeting of the State Council.

The Ukrainians expressed the protest against the presence of Russian leaders in the Crimea. "We have repeatedly emphasized the inadmissibility of uncoordinated stays of Russian officials in the sovereign territory of Ukraine," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Mariana Betsa, said.
