MH17 investigation team to visit Moscow
The investigation team dealing with the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 crash in the Donbas in July 2014 will arrive in Moscow soon, the head of Russia's delegation at OSCE PA, Nikolay Kovalev reported.
He referred to the statement made by the head of the Dutch delegation at a session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Tbilisi. "The international commission … is expected to arrive in Moscow in a week or two in order to establish direct contact with the Russian representatives, who are expected to be brought to the investigation of this incident,” Kovalev told journalists after the speech of the head of the Dutch delegation at a session on Saturday.
Kovalev also stated that there was a meeting with the Dutch delegation on the sidelines and that they repeatedly spoke about the need for a tribunal to deal with the MH17 issue.
Speaking at the session in Tbilisi, a representative of the Dutch delegation stated that they allegedly received incomplete information from Russia concerning the crash.
Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crashed with 298 people on board on July 17, 2014, in eastern Ukraine, while en route to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam, leaving no survivors.
On October 13, 2015, Dutch investigators published a report stating that the Malaysia Airlines aircraft appeared to have been downed using a Russia-produced Buk surface-to-air missile system and as Ukraine states the “crew” of this system were Russian citizens. The international investigation team consists of representatives from Australia, Malaysia, Ukraine, Belgium and the Netherlands.
