Russian President Vladimir Putin has given an award to Russian Special Forces, who for two days restrained the attack of militants in Syria. This was reported by Interfax, citing Press Secretary for the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
"The Head of State on Wednesday, as promised, personally awarded the Russian Special Forces who performed a feat in Syria, in the province of Aleppo", said Peskov. Then, according to him, "because of a lack of coordination that occurred, the Syrian troops in this sector retreated, leaving our military at the forefront."

Earlier it was reported that within a relevant document stood Putin's resolution: "I will personally present the reward."

On May 10, the Rossiya 24 television channel reported that several officers of the Special Operations Forces group of the Russian Armed Forces were awarded for their help in the fight against terrorists in Syria. As part of a group of 16 people, the awardees defended a part of the front line in Syria, directing aircraft to militant positions.
