Russia deployed another fighter jet to the Crimea
Russia deployed another - the ninth - Su-30SM multifunctional fighter jet to the Crimea as part of the separate Naval Assault Aviation Regiment of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Crimea News reported, citing the press service of the Southern Military District (SMD). The crew of the fighter jet underwent combat training at the Yeysk Naval Aviation Training Center.
“The aviation regiment will be equipped with several more Su-30SM’s by the end of 2016,” the Agency stated. According to servicemen, the operation of the Su-30SM from the Crimean airfield started in January 2015. It is planned for supersonic multifunctional fighter jets to replace the Su-24 frontline bombers that were the basis of the naval air fleet of Black Sea Fleet.
