Russian National Guard will not only operate in Russia, but also abroad
The Russian National Guard will not only be able to ensure Russia’s security within the country, but also beyond its borders, as stated by the first deputy director of the Russian National Guard, Sergey Melikov at a reception for graduating officers, reported Russian news agency TASS.
“As of today, troops of the National Guard, by the president's decision, and unlike domestic troops, will have the opportunity to function outside our country. Such work can be given to the troops, hence, the responsibility not only for the internal security of our country, but also for the security that will ensure the peace of our citizens, as the president said, in far-away places,” the news agency quoted him as saying.
On April 5, 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree by which the Federal Service of the Russian National Guard troops and the troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation were formed.
