One of the founders of the Donetsk People’s Republic was removed from the DPR Parliament
On the 6th of February, Deputies of the DPR People’s Council voted for the dismissal of the co-founder of the Donetsk Republic organization and former Spokesman for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Andrei Purgin.
According to information released at the website of the DPR People’s Council, they decided unanimously on the early termination of the authorities of Andrei Purgin and his associate, Dmitry Luchin. As Donetsk News Agency wrote, Purgin missed all of the meetings of their autumn session. The official cause of the dismissal is “non-implementation of professional obligations.”
Purgin was one of the leaders of separatist unrest in Donetsk. He is an ardent supporter of the accession of the DPR to Russia. In May 2014, Purgin became the First Vice Prime Minister of the DPR. In November 2014, he became the Chairman of DPR People’s Council. However, he was removed from the position of the Chairman of People’s Council of DPR in September 2015. He was later replaced by Denis Pushilin as Chairman.
