Dzhemilev: Turkey is determined to cooperate with Ukraine
Turkey is determined to cooperate with Ukraine economically, said the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Crimean Tatars, Mustafa Dzhemilev. The two countries may sign an agreement on a free trade zone, said Dzhemilev, while commenting on the results of the working visit of the leaders of the Crimean Tatars to Turkey.
According to him, at a meeting with the leadership of the Republic of Turkey, they mainly discussed the development of relations between Ukraine and Turkey. This included schedules of working visits of these countries’ heads of state.
"We discussed mainly the possibility of signing an agreement on a free trade zone between Ukraine and Turkey. This idea was very well received, there is such a commitment to work closely with Ukraine. In the near future, probably in January or early February, the Prime Minister of Turkey will arrive in Ukraine, then somewhere in the beginning of March, probably Poroshenko will visit Ankara. In short, we will develop our relations. The reception was very warm, friendly," said Dzhemilev.
"We probably will gather businessmen—Turkish and Ukrainian—and we will discuss close relations with the Republic of Turkey during this forum," added Dzhemilev.
According to him, the meeting also addressed the position of the Turkish delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the need to coordinate its actions with regard to the Ukrainian position.
Leaders of the Crimean Tatars visited the Republic of Turkey on December 16th to 17th. The Commissioner of the President and the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
