Ukraine bans entry of Russian singer

On November 6, the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that Russian R&B singer Kristina Sarkisyan, who performs under the pseudonym Kristina Si, was banned from entering Ukraine for three years. These measures were taken because the singer had crossed the Ukrainian border through inactive checkpoints and stayed in the temporarily occupied territories.

The agency noted that the Russian had violated Ukrainian legislation regarding crossing the state border through inactive checkpoints and staying in the temporarily occupied territories. This was determined on Sunday morning in Boryspil International Airport during a passport check of passengers departing to Minsk.

“A citizen of the Russian Federation issued a statement in which she refused to be present at court hearings and pledged to leave Ukraine on the next flight,” border guard officers reported.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine also asks foreigners and stateless people who are invited to Ukraine whether they visited temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory (namely, the Autonomous Republic ofthe  Crimea and separate areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions) illegally.
