Ukraine conducted successful test of a new missile
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko took part in the launch of a new Ukrainian missile.
"A successful test of a new Ukrainian missile has just been carried out. All the components of the missile were manufactured in Ukraine. This is our collective success!” wrote the president on Twitter.
He also spoke for the prompt delivery of the new missile to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the President’s press service, the missile is designed to defeat targets of various classes.
"The combat unit, the engine and the missile control system are of Ukrainian production. Its production involved more than 10 enterprises of the Ukrainian defense industry. The tests show high accuracy and reliability of missile control systems," the report of the President’s administration says.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov were also present during the missile tests.
The Ukrainian President’s Press Secretary, Svyatoslav Tsegolko, noted, the president arrived from Odessa to one of the testing ranges in the south of the country, where he observed the test-firing of the high-precision missile.
Previous test launches of the missiles were carried out by the Ukrainian military in April 2017. Then, for the first time, the command for their launch was given from the remote command post of the main situational center of Ukraine.
