Ukrainian Defense Ministry advises citizens to not visit Crimea for unnecessary reasons
The speaker of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense on ATO issues, Olexandr Motuzyanyk, regards statements made by Russia’s FSB as a continuation of the country’s information war against Ukraine. These statements are with regard to the detention of persons preparing acts of sabotage in the Crimea.
“We officially deny this, and declare that it is a provocation against the Ukrainian state and is the next step in the information war,” Motuzyanyk said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.
Based on this, he called on all Ukrainian citizens to refrain from making unnecessary trips to the Crimea as the peninsula “has become a dangerous place” in recent years. “We call on Ukrainians and foreigners to carefully weigh all the pros and cons and to not unnecessarily visit occupied territories,” he continued.
Motuzyanyk also reiterated the fact that dozens of Ukrainian prisoners are being held in the prisons of the Donbas and the Crimea.
On the 10th November, the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol arrested three suspects on charges of preparing acts of sabotage in the Crimea.
In response to this, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has said that there are no Ukrainian saboteurs in the Crimea.
