Ukrainian Minister of Interior: Ukraine is preparing for the 'de-occupation' of the Donbas
During the next two years, Ukraine will conduct the "de-occupation" of the Donbas, and is currently preparing for this process, as stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, the ministry’s press service reported.
On Friday, the Minister of Interior held an enlarged session of the Military Council of the National Guard of Ukraine, in which the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov, participated.
"I am sure that in the next two years we will carry out the de-occupation of the Donbas. And the National Guard plays the most important role in it. Everything that we are doing now is directed towards preparing for this process. Therefore, the paramilitary constituent must be better prepared, as well as the law enforcement one," Avakov said.
In turn, Turchynov said that the National Guard from the very beginning was created as a highly mobile, professional fighting force, able to operate effectively both in actual combat at the front and in rear services as well. "And I am pleased to state that the National Guard of Ukraine has become exactly that kind [of force]," the secretary of the NSDC said.
In mid-November, the Special Monitoring Mission of the OSCE recorded the highest number of ceasefire violations for the entire monitoring period in the Donetsk region.
