Ukrainian MP and Azov Battalion leader blames leadership of the National Guard for separatism and corruption
The Verkhovna Rada Deputy and leader of the Azov Battalion Andriy Biletsky, believes that the leadership of National Guard is a threat to Ukraine's defense capabilities.
"The situation is absolutely not normal for the third year of a war. The leadership positions are taken by outright separatists and systemic corruption is at work. The leadership of the National Guard is a threat to our country's defense capabilities," Biletsky's statement read. The MP claims that the NGU’s leadership is covering for separatist officers.
The statement names several people that Biletsky considers to be separatists. The list includes Commander of the Central Operational and Territorial Forces of the National Guard, Colonel Oleksandr Golyakov, the Deputy Commander of the 3057th military unit, Colonel Yuriy Kolmik, and his Deputy, Major Yuri Zaderin.
Biletsky said that he knows officers of the National Guard who go into the occupied territories and freely return from there. ''There is an arrangement with the enemy. This situation is known to the senior leadership of the National Guard," the Deputy said.
Also Biletsky promises to provide evidence soon that "every third hryvnia is stolen'' in the National Guard. He demands that President Petro Poroshenko, the Chief Military Prosecutor, Anatolii Matios, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, and the head of the SBU, Vasyl Hrytsak, bring order to the National Guard.
The National Guard is headed by Yuriy Allerov.
