Zakharchenko ordered that one of the largest factories in the Donbas be dismantled
The leader of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, ordered that his subjects dismantle one of the largest enterprises in the Donetsk region—Horlivka chemical concern Stirol—in the near future.
Ukrinform reported that according to an unnamed source, plans have been made to organize and carry out the export of 90% of the enterprise’s equipment and service utilities for scrap metal to Russia.
In order to avoid protests among the local population, the process of dismantling the factory is being kept secret. According to Ukrinform, equipment-dismantling brigades were brought from Torez, Snizhne and Shakhtarsk.
Stirol, which is owned by businessman Dmitro Firtash, had 14,000 employees before the war broke out in eastern Ukraine. According to local media reports, in July 2016 the company employed 4,000 people but in September that number dropped to 2,000.
