Poll: only three countries in the world have positive perception of Russia
American Pew Research Center surveyed residents of 37 countries around the world regarding their attitude towards Russia.
It turned out that only 34% out of 41,000 respondents have an amiable opinion of Russia. Another 40% have negative feelings about Russia and the rest have not yet decided.
There are three countries where the majority of the population had a positive attitude towards Russia, Vietnam (83%), Greece (64%), and the Philippines (55%).
This year, a negative attitude towards Russia is most common in Europe and North America. Anti-Russian sentiments are particularly strong in the Netherlands and Sweden, where 82% and 78% of respondents respectively have stated their unfavorable attitude. In the United States, 63% of residents do not like Russia.
However, anti-Russian sentiments are strong in the Middle East as well. Even in Turkey, which is so popular among Russian tourists, 62% of the population have a negative attitude towards the Russian Federation. In Jordan, an overwhelming majority feels negatively towards Russia, 93% in fact. The authors of the study believe that the reason for this is Russia's interference in the Syrian conflict.
Most of the respondents said they did not have confidence that Russian leadership was carrying out the right actions regarding foreign policy.
