Poroshenko: peacekeepers have to be in all of the Donbas including the areas where Russia stores weapons
The UN peacekeeping mission should be deployed throughout the Donbas, including the territories where the Russian Federation stores weapons, as expressed by President Petro Poroshenko on his Facebook page.
"Peacekeepers should be present everywhere, including the territories where Russia keeps weapons and on the uncontrolled part of the Ukrainian-Russian border," he wrote.
"It would stop the flow of Russian troops, weapons, and ammunition very quickly. The potential for aggression would have been stopped," Poroshenko considers.
He indicated that the Russian Federation President’s proposal regarding the deployment of "blue helmets" only along the contact line in the Donbas, is absolutely unacceptable.
"The main goal is for them to be located throughout the occupied territory," the President underlined.
As previously reported, the Russian Federation prepared a draft resolution for the UN Security Council on the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas, in which Moscow considers introducing an armed mission with small arms to protect OSCE monitors in the Donbas for six months. At the same time, the size of the mission and its composition should be coordinated with the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics.
