Poroshenko promises to do everything possible for Ukraine to receive next EU loan of €600 million
While speaking to the reported in Brussels, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko promised to do everything possible to prevent Ukraine from losing the macro-financial assistance from the European Union, reported Interfax-Ukraine.
In the summer of 2015, the European Commission opened a macro-financial assistance program for Ukraine in the amount of 1.8 billion euros. The term of the program ends on January 4, 2018. Ukraine has received two tranches of €600 million. To receive the third tranche, Ukraine must lift the ban on exports of logs and meet several other conditions. If this does not happen, it will not be given the funds.
“For my part, I will do everything in my power to enable Ukraine to receive the macro-financial assistance, and we have developed a draft of our cooperation with the European Union for the future,” Poroshenko said on Thursday.
According to him, Ukraine has demonstrated obvious progress in reforms, and a few steps still remain. The head of state said that Ukraine had made “autumn reforms,” reforms in education, health, completed judicial reforms, reforms in the field of cyber defense, and reforms of the privatization program. According to him, American and European partners of Ukraine are satisfied with the pace of the reforms being made.
