Prosecutor General of Ukraine investigates the financing of some Ukrainian regional governments with Yanukovych’s money
The Prosecutor General's Office (GPU) is investigating the funding of the former heads of the Regional State Administration of the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne regions, Vasyl Yadukha and Vasyl Bertash, from the so-called black accounting department of the Party of Regions, Ukrainski Novyny reports, citing court documents.
The Prosecutor General's Office asked the court to provide access to documents which are currently at Khmelnytskyi and Rivne regional administrations and which contain samples of the ex-governors’ handwriting. The investigators request is based on information which appears in the black accounting books of the Party of Regions regarding the receipt of 4.08 million dollars by Bertash and the receipt of 1.75 million dollars by Yadukha.
The court approved the GPU’s request and allowed access to the samples of the ex-governors’ handwriting.
The GPU also initiated criminal proceeding for the unjustified benefits received by deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, members of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Supreme Council of Justice, military officers, and other officials from March 1, 2007 to December 28, 2012.
The Prosecutor General's Office reported that they began investigation into the activities of the former People's Deputy of Ukraine and his assistant, who are suspected of involvement in the criminal organization’s activities led by runaway former President, Viktor Yanukovych. Later it became known that investigation concerns brothers, Yevhen and Vitalyi Kalyuzhnyi.
