Putin: Russia is fully complying with WADA requirements
Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the International Forum "Russia – Country of Sports" in Nizhny Novgorod that Russia is fully complying with the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), reports Interfax news agency.
According to Putin, Russia is interested in resolving all problems related to "doping scandals."
“Russian sports structures are in constant dialogue with WADA, and with the International Olympic and Paralympic Committees, as well as with the relevant structures of UNESCO and the Council of Europe. Russian athletes are also interested in making sure that all the "doping issues" remain in the past, to enter the sports arena "on an equal terms" with athletes from other countries, Putin said. He added that Russia intends to effectively use innovative technologies and scientific achievements in sports, as well as to use the most advanced methods of organizing sports events,” Putin said,
Earlier, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) received a reply from the Russian Federation regarding the case of "manipulation" of the data in the Moscow laboratory. Russia sent WADA a "detailed explanation of what happened." The response will be analyzed by WADA and independent experts, followed by the Compliance Review Committee (CRC).
In September, WADA launched a procedure to disqualify the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) of its compliance status with the World Anti-Doping Code. Presumably, the laboratory in Moscow deliberately changed the data that was sent to the Agency at the beginning of the year. In early September, media, citing other sources, wrote that Russia might be disqualified from the 2020 Olympics because of another doping scandal.
