Russia started delivery of aviation fuel to separatist-held areas of Ukraine

In November 2017, Russia began supplying aviation kerosene to the separatist-controlled territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, LIGA.net reports, citing data from the Russian railway.

From November 15 to 28, the Promsyrieimoprt company, owned by the Russian Ministry of Energy, transported by rail two batches of aviation kerosene with a total volume of about 65,000 kg.

This amount is enough for a 20-hour flight for an Airbus A321 or Boeing 737-800, or a 5-hour flight for a Ruslan An-124. The kerosene was shipped to the Rovenkovska oil terminal in the Luhansk region.

In January 2015, there were reports that the LPR (Luhansk People’s Republic) had acquired Su-25 attack aircraft and L-29 training aircraft. The separatist and Russian media reported that the LPR had allegedly reconstructed a working air force. The headquarters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that this was Russian equipment.

In May 2017, at the military parade in Donetsk, an Aero L-29 Delfin training aircraft was shown, painted in the colors of the DPR (Donetsk People’s Republic).

Ukraine has not used aviation in combat operations in the Donbas since 2014.
