Russian propaganda TV channel Life stops broadcasting

The TV channel Life (formerly known as LifeNews), which is part of the news media holdings of Russian media tycoon Aram Gabrelyanov,  stops its broadcasting, TASS reported citing a source in the holding company.

Earlier, the news agency RBC reported that the media project planned to reduce news broadcasting, which would lead to a reduction in staff.

"Only the site and our projects remain, of course. TV broadcasting will be completely discontinued. There will be a message to TV viewers on the frequency, [saying] that they should follow Life's news on the website and through social networks," the source said.

He also specified that 90 people would be dismissed, while another 90 will remain working on streaming broadcasting.

The publication FlashNord also reported that the channel will end broadcasting, and claimed that the station will be closed and all of its employees dismissed.

The Internet publication LifeNews.ru was created in September 2009 under the auspices of the information and entertainment resource Life.ru. The resource positioned itself as a news tabloid.

The television channel is known for distorting events and facts, and for its large collection of false reports.
