Saakashvili promises to present alternative Ukrainian government and presidential candidates proposal
Mikheil Saakashvili, leader of the Movement of New Forces party, has promised to present a proposal for an alternative government with ten presidential candidates before the next rally on February 18. He announced this at an assembly on European Square on Sunday, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.
“Before February 18 we will present an alternative government and ten new presidential candidates, from which you will have to choose,” he said.
According to Saakashvili, the Movement of New Forces’ website will also publish the addresses of the MPs he believes should vote for President Petro Poroshenko’s resignation.
“We will publish the photographs and addresses of the MPs who should vote for Poroshenko’s resignation. We will go to their homes and tell them what we want from them,” he said.
During the assembly, Saakashvili read a list of Ukrainian soldiers who had died in January this year.
“While our fighters have died for their motherland, Ukraine’s commander-in-chief Petro Poroshenko has been relaxing in the Maldive Islands and tossed hundreds of thousands of dollars into the abyss of the Indian Ocean. He has spat on our soldiers, he has spat on Ukraine,” Saakashvili said.
He also accused Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman of incompetence.
“Who could be worse than Groysman, who didn’t even finish high school? Is it really not possible to find a prime minister with a high education?” he remarked.
Yesterday a “march for the future” protest was held in Kyiv. It was organized by the Movement of New Forces. Protesters moved along a planned route on main roads from Taras Shevchenko Park to European Square.
Several thousand people took part in the protest, including former Odessa governor and Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili and other MPs and politicians.
