Seven Dutch companies under investigation for supplying equipment toward construction of Crimean bridge

Interfax, citing Western media, reports  that the Dutch Prosecutor's Office has launched investigations into seven Dutch companies suspected of violating EU sanctions against Russia.

"An investigation is under way regarding the alleged relationship of seven Dutch firms to the construction of a bridge connecting Russia and the Crimea," the Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.

According to the investigators, the companies may have supplied technical equipment for the construction of the Crimean bridge, as well as carried out maintenance of previously installed equipment.

“The provision of goods and services in violation of European sanctions violates established international norms," the statement says.

Among the companies listed as under investigation are Dematec Equipment and Biljard Hydrauliek.

According to local media, if these companies are found guilty, they can face fines of up to €820,000 as legal entities. The maximum penalty for individuals includes a fine of €82,000 euros or a six year prison sentence.
