The Swiss authorities denied this country’s residence permit for Russian businessman Roman Abramovich. The Federal Office of the Criminal Police concluded that his presence in the country is undesirable, reported Swissinfo.

According to law enforcement officers, Abramovich's presence is "a source of possible threats to the country’s public safety," as well as can cause a "reputational damage for Switzerland."

Earlier, the businessman filed suits against the publishing holding Tamedia requesting to prohibit the publication of details concerning his case for obtaining a residence permit. However, the Federal Court in Lausanne refused to consider it.

Abramovich first time applied for the residence permit in Switzerland in 2016, but a year later withdrew it. In the spring of 2018, the businessman had problems with the British investment visa, when the British authorities demanded to explain the origin of his furtune.

Later it became known that Abramovich had withdrawn his British visa application but received Israeli citizenship. On September 25, the media quoted sources stating that due to problems with the British visa, the billionaire intends to sell the Chelsea football club for $ 3.95 billion.
