Ukraine asks Russia to provide information on the fate of former LPR leader Plotnitsky
During the talks in Minsk in the light of the murder of Alexander Zakharchenko, the leader of the DPR, the Ukrainian side of the Tripartite Contact Group asked for information about the location of the ex-head of the LPR Igor Plotnitsky, said Iryna Herashchenko, the representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup of the TCG.
“The Ukrainian side was interested to find out where Plotnitsky has disappeared. Plotnitsky is involved in a number of criminal cases in Ukraine and he will sooner or later stand before Ukrainian and international courts together with his accomplices. We got no answer,” she wrote on Facebook.
Ukraine also asked Russia to report on the investigation group that was sent from Moscow to the Donbas to investigate Zakharchenko's assassination.
“First of all, this is a gross violation of the Ukrainian law. On our sovereign territory, investigative actions can be carried out only by Ukrainian or foreign investigative bodies with the permission of the relevant bodies. Secondly, this is a violation of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides that investigative bodies can work only in the territory of the federation. In fact, this is recognition of the occupation of the Donbas by the Russian Federation, if not only the militants, FSB officers, but also investigators are already sneaking around. Russians categorically refused to provide the OSCE and Ukraine with any information about these investigative groups,” Herashchenko said.
