Ukraine begins preparation for shipment of Javelin missile systems from US
At the end of the session of the Ukraine-NATO Military Committee in Brussels, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Viktor Muzhenko said that Kyiv is working on measures to adopt the Javelin anti-tank missile systems from the US into the armament, Ukrinform reports.
“Position one: we are talking about Javelins. There is a corresponding procedure for receiving them. It’s not as quick as we would like. In order to do this, the relevant experts need to work on matters relating to Ukraine’s readiness to accept such a weapon,” he said.
The general explained that this will involve safety matters, the storage conditions of such a weapon, and the paperwork for processing its transferal to Ukraine.
“We are already making preparations to use and implement such a weapon,” he added.
In December the TV channel ABC learned of President Donald Trump’s plans to approve the shipment of Javelin anti-tank missile systems to Ukraine, citing four sources in the US Department of State.
