Poroshenko also recalled that several days ago passed the thousandth day that Ukrainians have been living without Russian gas because of the embargo. “The Russians will not bring us to our knees with its gas ligature and gas blackmail,” he added.
On February 28, the Stockholm Arbitration Court made the final decision in the dispute between Russian Gazprom and Ukrainian Naftogaz regarding the contract of gas transit through Ukraine. The court required the Russian company to pay $4.63 billion for incomplete delivery of gas for Ukraine.
Gazprom still owes $2.56 billion for already delivered gas, considering Naftogaz’s $2.1 billion debt. However, Gazprom did not agree with the Court’s decision.
