Ukraine preparing the fourth lawsuit to WTO against Russia
Ukraine will file a new lawsuit against Russia through the World Trade Organization (WTO) before the end of the year. It will concern the supply of agricultural products, stated Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Nataliya Mykolska, during the inaugural economic forum "Support for Ukraine's Economic Development: Cooperation Between the Ukrainian Government and the Diaspora", which met in Kyiv on Friday.
"We are completing the final work to file a lawsuit regarding agricultural products at the WTO," she said.
The suit will concern those commodity groups where the Ukrainian side has a strong base of evidence, as well as commodity positions where Ukrainian producers are ready to provide concrete facts.
The Deputy Minister noted that this would be Ukraine's fourth lawsuit against the Russian Federation.
In December 2016, the World Trade Organization (WTO), at the request of Ukraine, began consideration of a dispute over Russia's restriction of the import of wagons and equipment. Following that, Ukraine complained to the WTO on the illegality of the restricted transit of goods through the territory of Russia to the third countries of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
In March 2017, Mykolska said in an interview with LB.ua that the Ministry of Economics had prepared a legal position for a third dispute over import restrictions on food and some industrial goods going from Ukraine to Russia, which were introduced by Rospotrebnadzor under Gennady Onishchenko.
