Responding to claims by new Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has stated that Ukrainians who work in Poland save the Polish economy.

Earlier, Morawiecki said that relations with Ukraine must be built on historical truth and that events such as "the genocide in Volhynia" cannot be forgotten.

"We truly are saving the Polish economy, given the Ukrainians working there. I know cases in which Ukrainians have been offered a large salary because they are more flexible, [and] very focused on what they are doing," Klimkin said on the TV channel 112 Ukraine.

According to his estimates, there are approximately t 1 million Ukrainians currently in Poland.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs estimates that there are nearly 1 million Ukrainians in Poland. So who saves whom? In this sense, we are saving the Polish economy. But with the Poles, we will always talk as with friends on all issues, including the issue of our historical memory," stated Klimkin.

Mateusz Morawiecki, who previously held the posts of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in the Government of Poland, became the new Prime Minister of the country on Friday.
