Eight NATO сountries to send soldiers to join new brigade in Romania
Eight NATO country members are ready to assign their own military forces to the creation of a new multinational brigade in Romania, which will guarantee the ground presence strength of the Black Sea region, NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference in Brussels.
“We are strengthening our regional positions in the air and on the ground on the basis of the multinational brigade in Romania. Eight allies have pledged to provide the brigade’s personnel. And five allies are interested in providing ground and air forces for training and patrolling the air space,” Stoltenberg said.
He reminded that several NATO member countries have access to the Black Sea: Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania. “We also have state partners there, Ukraine and Georgia,” he added. Defense ministers of these NATO member countries decided previously to strengthen their naval presence in the Black Sea.
