Kremlin: Russia is running out of patience with the US over its seized diplomatic property
Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for the Russian President stated that Russia's patience is running out regarding Washington's delay in resolving the situation surrounding seized Russian diplomatic property, in response to the question as to whether a reciprocal response would be expected before the meeting of the Russian and US presidents, or after.
He also noted that the question of when the reciprocal measures can be applied is up to the Foreign Ministry.
"As for the response, we talked about the principle of reciprocity. Our patience in this matter is running out - this was also said at different levels. And regarding the nuances, this is, rather, an issue for our foreign policy department," the Kremlin spokesman commented.
At the end of December 2016, the former US administration headed by Barack Obama declared 35 employees of the Russian Embassy in Washington and the Consulate General in San Francisco as persona non grata and closed two Russian diplomatic dachas (in the states of New York and Maryland). All Russian personnel was denied access to these two complexes on December 30th. Washington linked these sanctions to the hacker attacks against American political institutions in which former US authorities blamed Russia.
