Kremlin: Russia's patience on the issue of diplomatic property in the US is wearing thin

Russia counts on the prudence of the United States on the issue of the return of Russian diplomatic property,as stated by the Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reported.

According to Peskov, Russia's patience in this matter is running out. "We continue to count on the prudence of our American colleagues in order to bring the situation back to a legal channel, in accordance with international law," he answered, regarding how long Russia would wait for the return of diplomatic property before adopting retaliatory measures.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the Russian Federation and the United States "almost" agreed on the return of Russian diplomatic property. Later, a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry explained that the word "almost" does not mean reaching a decision on this issue. "Yesterday I called out the word 'almost' to a CNN correspondent, but you understand that 'almost' does not count. Therefore, we will continue to work," Ryabkov said.

In late 2016, US authorities introduced anti-Russian sanctions. As a result, 35 Russian diplomats in the United States were declared persona non grata. Additionally, Russian diplomats were denied access to diplomatic dachas in the states of New York and Maryland.
