NATO fighters conduct training flights over Estonia
The German air force will conduct low flights over Estonia at the Amari air base on Monday, as per information from the main headquarters of the Estonian Defense Forces, website ERR.ee reported.
The flights will take place at an altitude of no more than 152 meters and far from any populated areas.
NATO countries allocate specific parts of their airspace for air force exercises and training, including low-altitude flights. All flights are coordinated with the Department of Aviation and dispatcher Lennuliiklusteenindus JSC.
According to a decision by the North Atlantic alliance, since March 29, 2004, the airspace of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania has been protected by the air forces of the NATO countries on a rotational basis.
The German air force was rotated into its security role in the Baltics on August 31.
On January 5, a Dutch air force squadron equipped with F-16's was deployed to the Siauliai Air Base in Lithuania.
