NATO provided Ukraine with equipment to strengthen cybersecurity
The head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Hrytsak, states that as part of the Ukraine-NATO trust fund for cyber security, Ukraine has received technical equipment and software worth a million euros.
According to him, in the near future this equipment will be installed "as directed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs".
The Deputy Secretary General of NATO for new security challenges, Sorin Ducaru, said that training will be provided for Ukrainian experts, as well as technical support for the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The NATO trust fund for assistance to Ukraine to enhance national cyber defense capabilities was established during the NATO Summit in 2014. The interests of the Ukrainians are represented by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
On June 27th, a massive hacker attack began in Ukraine, it struck the networks of the government, banks, and private enterprises. It was also reported there were cyber-attacks in other countries.
On July 1st the Security Service of Ukraine announced the involvement of Russian Special Services in an attack by the computer ransomware, Petya.A. According to the SBU, the infection of computer systems occurred in several stages on the eve of Constitution Day in Ukraine through accounting software.
