NATO: Russia's unpredictable behavior is one of the largest threats to the Alliance

The increase in Russia’s unscheduled military exercises makes NATO worried. The Alliance believes that Russia’s unpredictable behavior, along with the crisis in the Middle East is currently one of the most significant threats, Yle reports.

At the same time, according to the Finnish media, the general rules and agreements developed by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) do not work in this case.

"The agreement has a loophole that allows for emergency exercises, but this should only be the exception to the rule. However, Russia has made a rule out of this exception, conducting exercises without any announcements," said NATO’s Deputy Secretary-General Alexander Vershbow.

According to him, such exercises threaten the security of the whole Baltic region. He also added that at the moment there are no signs of warming in relations between Russia and the West.
