Russian troops held exercises using Iskander missiles

The Russian military conducted a training exercise, making simulated strikes from an Iskander-M operational and tactical missile system at the testing site of the Western Military District in the Leningrad region, the Russian Ministry of Defense’s website reports.

The training focused on the preparedness of the missiles complexes for fire, and conducting individual and group e-launches of missiles aimed at targets simulating enemy command posts and radars, which were located at a distance of several hundred kilometers.

The exercise was attended by about 100 soldiers, and more than 20 units of missile equipment from the rocket troops unit of the military district were involved.

In early October, Russia deployed Iskander missile systems in the Kaliningrad region, causing outrage in Lithuania and NATO.

In April, it was reported that the Russian military tested the Iskander-M at the Kapustin Yar. Russia’s Defense Ministry also posted a video of the exercises.
