US gives three mobile laboratories to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense
The United States gave the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense three mobile laboratories worth 13 million hryvnia ($500,000). These labs will make it possible to promptly and efficiently complete tests, from the simplest to the most complex ones, to identify disease agents and bacteriological studies.
As has been reported, there are no such laboratories in Ukraine yet, although they are urgently needed in the war zone.
It is reported that the cars and medical equipment were purchased by the Americans, and designed and equipped by Ukrainian companies. Specialists are now being trained to work in the mobile laboratories. In just three months they are expected to be sent to the Donbas.
"The laboratory can be used to carry out bacteriological studies quickly. It takes only one hour to deploy or dismantle this car. We can carry out studies to clearly identify diseases. For example, an influenza virus. We can identify an adenovirus and other agents which can affect the combat effectiveness of military units and respond accordingly,” Serhiy Lytovka, head of the Central Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Office at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said.
A representative of the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Luca Kluchko, notes, “As the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention. Here you see the final result of a sad necessity, but it is what had to be done. And this car is a good example of Ukrainian ingenuity, as three Ukrainian companies were involved in its development. Don’t waste time and send these cars to the front!”
