US indicates need for Ukraine to create an anti-corruption court
The US Embassy in Ukraine has noted the need to create an anti-corruption court in the country as soon as possible.
"The need to establish independent anti-corruption court is clear and growing more urgent," the embassy said in a tweet.
In addition, the diplomatic mission also positively assessed the call of Ukrainians for a transparent judicial process: "Inspiring to see Ukrainian civil society in action calling for effective and transparent judicial process."
The Embassy statement follows the failure of the General District Court of Kiev to select a form of pre-trial restraint for the suspected criminal and the head of the State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, for two days in a row.
The Anti-Corruption Courts would be a separate branch of the judiciary; the rulings of the new court would only be possible to appeal through the Supreme Court.
