Polish Foreign Minister after visit to Ukraine: I do not have optimistic news for the President of Poland
Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski, after a visit to Lviv, said on Polish radio that he had “no optimistic news for the president.”
According to Waszczykowski, the decision on the visit of the President of Poland to Ukraine belongs to Andrzej Duda.
“I want to present to the president what I saw and what I heard in Lviv during the talks yesterday and the day before yesterday. I can only say that I do not have optimistic news for the president,” Waszczykowski said.
At the same time, in his opinion, the negotiations with Ukrainian local officials “are moving along, and things are being resolved,” and there are no anti-Poland demonstrations.
Waszczykowski stressed that the problems with reaching an agreement begin “somewhere at the central level.” According to the minister, this could be the reason for the “internal game.”
The head of Polish diplomacy also said that officials who block the exhumation of Polish victims in Ukraine will be banned from entering Poland. The minister noted that such a procedure has already been started for one individual. After the process is completed, the person’s name will be announced.
“Russian aggression cannot be an excuse to avoid solving Polish-Ukrainian bilateral issues,” Waszczykowski said.
As was reported, last week the Polish foreign minister Witold Waszczykowski stated that Poland can prohibit the entry of Ukrainians who adhere to anti-Poland positions on historical issues. According to Waszczykowski, Ukraine is trying to use the fact that it is important for Poland with regard to security, so historical issues are pushed into the background.
