NATO to hold military exercises in Poland
As reported by Radio Poland, NATO rapid response exercises Brilliant Jump will take place in the Żagań and Świętoszów training ranges from May 17th to May 27th.
This is one in a series of NATO exercises “designed to prove the concept of NATO’s Readiness Action Plan (RAP) and at the same time to put to the test all its core elements, including the NATO Command Structure (NCS) and a number of Headquarters throughout Europe.”
The exercises require a high level of cooperative actions among all units. NATO units such as the Multinational North-Eastern corpse from Szczecin and the recently formed NATO integration unit from Bydgoszcz, Poland will participate.
These will be the second joint rapid response exercise, which were first launched at the Alliance summit in 2014. The previous exercises were held at the same location.
A Spanish brigade, reinforced by a British battalion and a regiment from Albania, will also take part in the exercises.
“The military equipment from Spain and Great Britain will be delivered by sea to Szczecin and more than 1500 military personnel will be transported by air to the airport in Wrocław, Poland. They will join other military units taking part in the exercises at the training locations in Żagań and Świętoszów” informed the Chief Commander of the Polish Armed Forces.
The Brilliant Jump exercices will be a part of a serices of other NATO exercices scheduled to be held before the NATO summit in July in Warsaw.
Among those are Anakonda-16, which will be the largest exercises held in Poland after 1989. It is expected that more than 30,000 military personnel will participate in the exercise.
