Warsaw wants the NATO Intelligence Center to be built on Polish territory
Poland wants the NATO Intelligence Center for the four battalions of the Alliance that will soon be deployed to Eastern Europe to be established on its territory, Radio Polsha reported.
“The Center will be a place of rapid collection of information. This data will allow other NATO members to be aware of what is going on in the eastern flank,” the Polish Minister of National Defense, Antoni Macierewicz stated, stressing that Berlin also supports Warsaw on this issue.
The final decision will be made at the NATO Summit in Warsaw that will take place in July. Macierewicz confirmed that the deployment of four NATO battalions in Poland and in the Baltic States has already been decided. The details of strengthening the eastern flank will be sorted out at the summit.
According to the unofficial data of Radio Polsha, the battalion in Poland will be led by U.S. troops, Canadian troops will lead the battalion in Latvia, British troops will lead the battalion in Estonia and German troops will lead in Lithuania. This was established on the 13th of June when the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed the Alliance's plans to strengthen the eastern flank by deploying four battalions to Poland and the Baltic States.
Earlier, the Minister Macierewicz noted that deploying four NATO battalions to Poland and the Baltic States would mean stationing one thousand soldiers in each country.
